Hikari: Mixed-use Spa/Residence

Posted in: Commercial, Portfolio, Residential ♦ Monday, February 14th, 2011, 5:36 pm ♦ No Comments

The purpose of this project was to design a spa geared towards patients with Multiple Sclerosis, as well as a residential space for its owners. Predominantly sustainable and natural products were to be used, and adherence to ADA codes was required. This was completed in the sophomore year of the program.

Overall, the concept aimed to create an environment inspired by the Japanese hot springs through the incorporation of natural materials, geometric shapes, and line. The light from the south windows are exposed to everything in the space in order to serve as a healing element to those suffering from MS.
